Mylo Xyloto is Coldplay's eagerly awaited fifth studio album since Parachutes was released in 2000, when the band achieved instant success. The subsequent albums have sold in huge quantities and some of their songs have become instant classics. Thus this latest release has to maintain a very high standard.

Chris Rea's latest album is available in two physical formats. Firstly, there is the usual single CD album with the 13 new tracks. Secondly, there is a 3 CD and 2 DVD fold-out box set including a 28 page booklet which, at around £14, is remarkable value for money. But is the music as impressive as the packaging?

Who'd have thought that 10 years after unexpectedly winning the TV singing contest Pop Idol, Will Young would now be releasing his 5th studio album? Proof indeed that Will was a worthy winner and that talent will survive, a lesson to the many deluded hopefuls attempting to get on these programmes.

Here is the Red Hot Chili Peppers much anticipated new album following on from 2006's mammoth offering Stadium Arcadium. After a 5 year gap, and with a new guitarist on board, the band have gone straight to the top of the UK album charts.

Bob Dylan is once again visiting us and has announced a tour for later this year. Intriguingly he is sharing the dates with Mark Knopfler who is assembling a top class group of musicians for the purpose. This promises to be a must see concert if ever there was one!

George Michael has recently announced his Symphonica Tour and already extra dates have been added owing to huge demand. This is testament to his amazing popularity even though he rarely tours and has issued only 5 original albums since Wham! split in 1986.

The third album from this indie folk group heralds a change in direction for them. Gone is the folk influenced sound, to be replaced by a straight down the middle pop/rock approach. This is an album of well crafted catchy pop tunes featuring a more adventurous musical mix.

Currently enjoying huge sales with his first solo album released last year, Bruno Mars is no overnight success. From an early age he performed in his family's band and when he left school in 2003 he went straight into the music business.

With Roger Waters currently on tour in the UK with The Wall Live concert, and with Pink Floyd's back catalogue going to be reissued later this year in a bewildering array of formats, now would be a good time to look at The Wall album. It was the Floyd's 8th studio album and their 2nd biggest seller.

At the time of writing this review Adele's second album 21 has been at the top of the UK charts for a total of 14 weeks. Her first album 19 is at number 2. The albums have been huge sellers in America and many other countries. In just over 3 years Adele has achieved remarkable success, with 21 signalling that a major new talent has arrived.
