Venue Cymru, Llandudno

Previously the North Wales Theatre and the North Wales Conference Centre, Venue Cymru is the largest entertainments venue in Llandudno, North Wales. The venue comprises a theatre, conference centre, restaurant and arena.

The original theatre built on the site was the Victoria Palace which was opened in 1894. The Victoria progressed through a series of name changes over the next hundred years including Rivière's Concert Hall, Llandudno Opera House, the Hippodrome and finally Arcadia. The adjoining conference centre, the Aberconwy Centre, had been developed over the previous years and was grouped with the theatre under the new name of the North Wales Conference Centre and the North Wales Theatre and Conference Centre in 1994, the year that Arcadia hosted it's final concert.

The original theatre was abandoned until 2005 when it was demolished and, in its place, a new £10.7 million development got underway to produce one of Wales' finest venues. The development provided a total capacity of over 5,000. Following completion of the venue a competition was run via the local newspaper to find a new name. The three hundred entries were whittled down to the final winning entry - Venue Cymru.

Venue Cymru was opened to the public on 15th January 2007 by Andrew Davies AM.
